Chiang Mai |
|
I spent most of my time during my last trip to Thailand in Chiang Mai, as I really like the sensibility and sensation of the place. I arrived there at the end of the first week of November, and rented an apartment in the Doi Ping Mansion, where I stayed until I went to Phuket with my mother in early December. I returned to Chiang Mai in mid-December, but wasn't able to find another apartment because it was high season, so I stayed in a hotel the rest of my time there, which was until the 8th of January. There's very little I don't like about Chiang Mai, and I was as comfortable and at home there as just about any place I've been in my life. I love the weather, the beautiful surroundings, the people, the food. I love wandering around the markets, I love the way Tha Phrae Street is closed down every Sunday for a walking street bazaar. I'm not fond of the insanity of the traffic, which is as bad as any place in Thailand, but that's a minor cavil. I truly envy the people who can manage to make this their home -- I wish I could! This is a very small selection of photos from there, kind of a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I wish I'd spent far more time out with my camera here, which I did do in other places, but it always seemed like I had time enough to do that later... |
